Crystal Castles And Flux Pavilion Announced For SoundsWild

Crystal Castles And Flux Pavilion Announced For SoundsWild In Johannesburg On Friday 27 November

SoundsWild returns for its annual festival on Friday 27 November and announces international headliners Crystal Castles and also Flux Pavilion.

The second annual SoundsWild festival goes electronic with a WILD night of spectacular visuals, DJs and live electronic artists at Carfax in Newtown.

SoundsWild will bring festival goers an experience like no other, showcasing a wide variety of electronic music that all music fans can enjoy. Combining the aesthetic industrial appeal of Johannesburg Town with some of the best electronic artists South Africa and the world has to offer.

“After much thought and planning we are confident that we have created a concept that so many music fans are hungry for in South Africa. We feel often events only cater to one type of electronic music fan, with SoundsWild we aim to bring something for everyone with a diverse range of electronic music on offer. We are super excited to be hosting Crystal Castles and Flux Pavilion for SoundsWild and we hope to see you all there for a night of great vibes and more importantly BASS!!.” comments Darren Bullock, SoundsWild Festival Programmer.

Fusing low-res electronic noise and pop hooks so effortlessly that it can seem accidental, Crystal Castles began as producer/multi-instrumentalist Ethan Kath’s solo project in late 2003.  Crystal Castles returned in 2010 with another self-titled album and toured all the big festivals, playing atLeeds, Glastonbury and Big Day Out to name a few. The bands third album ‘III‘ featured the singles ‘Plague’, ‘Wrath of God’ and ‘Sad Eyes’, all of which were instant hits. Crystal Castles 4th album will follow in 2016 and include new singles ‘Frail’ and ‘Deicide’ (both Hype Machine number 1’s and the most successful songs online in the band’s 10 year career to date), as well as featuring the bands new vocalist Edith.

Flux Pavilion had made a name for himself with plenty of club hits, remixes, and DJ gigs, but 2010’s ‘I Can’t Stop’ took his career to another level. Two ‘fans’ Flux met on a tour of America asked to sample the cut for their upcoming hip-hop album, and a year later ‘I Can’t Stop’ became the basis of ‘Who Gon Stop Me’ on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative effort Watch the Throne. Flux Pavilion’s hit track ‘Bass Cannon’ arrived that same year, along with ‘I Can’t Stop’ picked as Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’ and a collaborative cut with Doctor P, ‘Super Bad’. Flux Pavilion worked on a diverse selection of original tracks and collaborations with Childish Gambino, Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki and Turin Brakes plus remixing for the likes of Skrillex, Jamiroquai, MIA and DJ Fresh.

Joining the international headliners are the first two local acts to be announced as SoundsWild welcomes PHFAT and Niskerone to the line-up.

PHFAT have built a massive fanbase through their incredible live shows. They kicked off last year with a monster of a single, Lights Out, featuring the explosive JungFreud (AKA Nonku). The singled premiered on 5FM’s Fresh Drive and managed to beat out electronic music giant Skrillex for “Hottest New Track of the week” on their #NewFavourite slot. 2015 has seen them dominate the year’s biggest events adding SoundsWild to their impressive list of live shows.

Niskerone hosts his Niskerone Presents Universes at SoundsWild and launches a live show that has never before been seen in Johannesburg. The performance consists of Niskerone, MC Miki San and DJ Invisible orchestrating a visually explosive live Drum n Bass show. Prepare to be blown away!
