 FLOSS PHILLY

Olmeca Tequila presents Mad Decent Block Party  – Full Lineup

Featuring Major Lazer, Dillon Francis and Flosstradamus

Partygoers in Jozi and Cape Town are less than a month away from dancing under an urban sunset in their city streets with Olmeca Tequila to world-renowned US DJ acts Major Lazer, Dillon Francis and Flosstradamus.

This is the first time an official Mad Decent Block Party has left North American shores – and we’re going large! Expect nothing less than a fully-fledged live show from Major Lazer including Diplo’s iconic hamster ball, professional dancing, twerking, sprinklers, mascots, ridiculous amounts of energy and some wild surprises.

Supported in both Jo’burg and Cape Town by American Moombathon artist Paul Devro and local heavyweights Das Kapital and Sibot & Toyota, these events are set to be nothing short of uninhibited, street-style fun with a South African flavour.

In Jozi on Saturday 8 February 2014 Liver will get the crowd warmed up and the king of drum and bass, Niskerone, will play the closing set following Major Lazer. On Sunday 9 February 2014, Cape Town will experience the beats of kwaito duo Ruffest as well as bass and hip-hop DJ White Nite. In the spirit of a traditional urban block party there will be food trucks serving everything from boerie rolls to shisi nyama.

Each Mad Decent Block Party features four local DJs and four international acts – a packed show for only R275 a ticket, available through Webtickets.

Joburg’s event will be held in the heart of the city at Mary Fitgerald Square and Cape Town’s event will be hosted at the Dias Parking Lot at the Foreshore next to the Nelson Mandela Boulevard highway fly-over. This is probably the first and last time this unconventional venue will be used because, soon after the Olmeca Tequila presents Mad Decent Block Party, the space is scheduled to become a building site.

You should give me those tickets because I don’t think anyone has seen a skinny white boy dance to trap like there is no tomorrow. Some people mistaken me for a kid with a severe case of cerebral palsy mixed with robot. A sight for sore eyes.

Jet Blue Jet has to be my favourite Major Lazer song.
It’s bouncy, irresistible and extremely funky. Oh and my mom dances to it.

    MAJOR LAZER!
    https://soundcloud.com/majorlazer/mash-up-the-dance-mungos-hi-fi

Why me? Well, what’s a party without a crazy-ass, curly-haired girl ripping up the dance floor (even with her amazing lack of dance skills.) Tickets are never wasted on someone who has truly mastered the art of a night out to the extent of never fading. Not.even.once.

    P.S. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!

I [you] stand amid the roar
    Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
    Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
    Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
    One from the pitiless wave?

I am that last grain of sand, I know you can save me from the pitiless waves of mundane existence. Xxx

See I put up links to all 3 artists’ best songs? That’s why I should win – I am a huge fan of not one, not two, but ALL THREE of these epic producers. I own literally all their songs and nothing would make me happier than to see them live. I would rather go to MDBP than Ultra, that’s how much I want to go!

Also, I went and liked this blog on FB and followed on Twitter. Just in case that counts 😉

    Major Lazer
It’s soon to be released. “Lose Themselves” its with Moska

    https://soundcloud.com/moskahouse/major-lazer-moska-lose

The music is in my blood, I will twerk my way to the front with my “Thank you The Beard” poster and do as the song says, I will most definitely LOSE MYSELF and make the absolute most of it as I possibly can. It’s going to be MAD DECENT 😉

    Dillon Francis

One of his newer tracks “Without You (The Rebirth)”

I would love to see them live because I follow them and I’ve seen how they are together (personality) in videos but it will be amazing to see it all come to life and experience it for myself in Cape Town. Their music is fun and will make it a party not to be missed.

“Lose Themselves” which is still to be released
    https://soundcloud.com/moskahouse/major-lazer-moska-lose

At the Cape Town show I’ll twerk my way to the front in a Mad Decent manner and hold up my “Thank you The Beard” sign for all to see. I am a massive fan of diplo and the crew and I will make every minute count if I get the chance. TWERK TWERK TWERK!

Major Lazer are the most innovative group out there right now, I love how they draw inspiration from different countries in the world that most EDM groups would not – it sets them apart and sets the trends. I freakin’ love Major Lazer and cannot wait to get down to Pon De Floor and Bumaye! #OlmecaMDBP – Cape Town

Major Lazer – Pon De Floor

    http://vimeo.com/5936810

This video was my introduction to Major Lazer.

Let’s go back a few years, to the Time Before Twerk. To a time where the booty clap/juke/ratchet culture was a thing in the States, but South Africans had never seen the like of it before. I watched Pon De Floor at work. While people filed by in the open plan studio, pausing at my computer screen, I blushed HARD. I laughed nervously. My jaw dropped slightly at certain points. But I couldn’t look away. There was nothing that could tear my demure eyes away from this sex-orgy-car-crash, interpreted in dance. Not even a potential ‘meeting’ with HR.

What the hell did I just watch?!

I’d never seen anything so primal, so vulgar, so ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna get gonorrhea from watching this’, so fresh, and so FUCKING RAD in my whole life.

I would very much like to take my Pon De Floor experience out of my computer screen and convert it to real life. That would be the coolest thing, ever.

I just turned 18 and I didn’t celebrate at all, help me compensate for this wrong doing. If I win this, it’ll be my boyfriend’s Valentines Day present. Make me the sickest girlfriend ever.

Major Lazer, hands down. I’ve loved these guys for half a decade now, I probably know their music better than anyone in this country! 🙂 This is one of their very first tracks tracks – German Elephant Killer, it’s a rad mix of Seals ‘Killer’ gone house\dancehall. The BASSS that comes in at 23 seconds is killer. Put it on LOUD 🙂

    Live in and love JOZI!!
