Partying during the summer is becoming both a gift and a curse – rad events with the chance of being completely drenched in a Jozi thunderstorm.
This Friday for “Who’s In for The Subways & Fun Loving Criminals” was standard procedure for a Newtown event: Stellar line up, rad people and the pre-headliner downpour. Before the rain forced everyone into either Carfax or Townhall, The Cuervolution Stage was aces with Vampire9000 kicking off the night and awesome sets from Shortstraw and kidofdoom.
[ShortStraw]While missioning around the venue we also managed to catch Half n Half on the La Hacienda Stage and Sasquatch in Carfax – both assisting #partyanimals in making the night one of the best parties of the year. Cue some quick thinking from the organisers around 23:45, most people packed into Carfax for The Subways. Even though the stage was a little make-shift and you couldn’t really see the band too well, they still managed to put on an insane show and make me temporarily deaf while screaming “You don’t need money to have a good time”. Shoutouts to The Weasel DJ for helping break in the crowd before Fast & Frank from Fun Lovin’ Criminals broke Town Hall.
[The Subways]Besides the amazing live music the event as a whole was pretty well put together. From super easy access to the bars (especially outside), toilets a-plenty for those needing to relieve both their bladders and their stomachs from excessive consumption, food stalls (ermahgerd purpcurn) and friendly staff working the door, the only thing to say is thanks to everyone who came through and made it a killer event and a massive high 5 to Jose Cuervo, you guys rock.
